Overview
Céltica Energía S.L. is a Spanish energy company founded in 2011. It describes itself as more than a consultancy: it is an operator in the energy market serving industrial consumers. The company began by supporting renewable generators, acting as a representative in the daily electricity market for small hydroelectric plants and solar photovoltaic plants. Over time it specialised in managing industrial energy contracts, applying short-, medium- and long-term purchasing strategies to limit risk and negotiating contracts with reference suppliers that offer flexibility and security for industrial processes. The company's service portfolio covers several areas. It advises and supports industrial consumers in buying energy, using its portfolio management tool. It monitors and controls energy supply, consumption and costs, optimising consumption profiles and power to minimise fixed costs and exploit market opportunities, with permanent monitoring of contract compliance. It develops renewable and decarbonisation projects, specialising in the management and valuation of renewable projects and long-term contracts (PPAs) for industry, offering access to a multidisciplinary team for decarbonisation and electrification projects and support for cogeneration operators. It analyses electricity and gas markets as a member of forward markets, giving consumers access to its trading desk to scrutinise hedging procedures and sending periodic reports on price evolution and energy market conditions. It also provides specific services for electro-intensive industry, supporting certification as an electro-intensive consumer and monitoring obligations with Red Eléctrica and the Ministry of Industry. According to its own account, since 2016 it has managed close to 400 GWh of energy per year, and since 2022 it has participated in the modification of the Consumer Statute. Its market activity includes membership of OMIE (the Iberian electricity market operator), registration as an electricity marketer before the CNMC, qualification for CESUR auctions, membership of MEFF and OMIP as a negotiator on its own account, access to clearing services, and professional client status on various broker platforms. It also operates in Portuguese interconnection auctions. The company is privately held and based in Spain.
