Overview
CcHUB, short for Co-Creation Hub, is a Nigerian innovation centre and technology incubator headquartered in Yaba, Lagos — the district often called "Yabacon Valley" because of the cluster of startups that grew up around it. It was founded in 2010 by Bosun Tijani and Femi Longe as a physical space where technologists, entrepreneurs, investors, designers and policy makers could meet, prototype and launch technology-driven ventures aimed at social and commercial problems in Nigeria and the wider African market. Rather than being a single product company, CcHUB operates as a platform brand: it runs incubation and acceleration programmes, a co-working and events space, seed-stage investment through its associated fund, and specialised labs and initiatives in areas such as education technology, health technology, governance and the creative economy. It has also expanded beyond Lagos, opening a hub in Kigali, Rwanda, and working with partners in Kenya and elsewhere on the continent. Its funding and partnerships come from a mix of philanthropic foundations, development agencies, corporations and investors, and it has worked with a wide range of international technology companies and donors on programmes that support African founders. CcHUB is widely cited as one of the earliest and most visible institutional anchors of Nigeria's startup ecosystem, and it has been associated with the growth of several notable African technology companies. In the 2020s CcHUB's co-founder Bosun Tijani moved into public service, becoming Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in 2023, which raised the hub's public profile further. The organisation remains privately held and continues to position itself as a bridge between African innovators and global capital, research and policy networks.
History
CcHUB was founded in 2010 in Yaba, Lagos, by Bosun Tijani and Femi Longe. The idea was to create a neutral, collaborative space where Nigeria's small but growing community of software developers, designers, entrepreneurs and investors could work alongside researchers, universities and government to build technology solutions to local problems. The hub opened in a district that would later be nicknamed "Yabacon Valley" as startups, investors and technology companies clustered around it. In its early years CcHUB combined co-working space with events, hackathons, mentorship and pre-incubation programmes. It became known for supporting early-stage ventures and for running programmes with corporate and development partners, and it helped seed a generation of Nigerian technology founders. Its model blended commercial incubation with a social-impact mission, focusing on areas such as education, health, governance and financial inclusion. Over the following decade CcHUB expanded its activities into a portfolio of labs and initiatives, and it began investing in and incubating startups directly. It also grew geographically, opening a hub in Kigali, Rwanda, and building partnerships with organisations in Kenya and across the continent. International technology companies, foundations and development agencies became recurring partners and funders of its programmes. In the 2020s the hub's profile rose further when co-founder Bosun Tijani was appointed Nigeria's Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy in 2023. CcHUB remains a privately held organisation and one of the most recognised institutional brands in African technology, positioning itself as a bridge between African innovators and global capital, research and policy networks.
