Overview

Cavello was a Dutch clothing brand founded in 1992. It rose to prominence in the 1990s with colourful tracksuits that became part of the gabber subculture's dress code, alongside Italian brands such as Australian. As the gabber scene declined, Cavello shifted its focus: in 2008 it stopped producing tracksuits, T-shirts, bermudas, trousers and accessories, and concentrated entirely on men's underwear. The brand was a commercial trademark of the company DMK Design. It sold boxer shorts in a wide range of prints and solid colours, positioned as stylish, comfortable and made from high-quality materials. Products were available through the official webshop and various physical and online retailers in the Netherlands. The company DMK Design was declared bankrupt on 24 August 2023 by the court of Zeeland-West-Brabant, ending production. Cavello's visual identity originally featured two facing ibex over a triangle; in spring 2012 the triangle was dropped while the ibexes remained. Cyclist Thomas Dekker served as a brand ambassador.

History

Cavello was founded in 1992 as a Dutch clothing company. During the 1990s it became extremely popular for the colourful tracksuits it developed, which were adopted as part of the gabber subculture's dress code alongside Italian brands like Australian. As the gabber scene declined and that market dried up, the brand expanded its range to include T-shirts, bermudas, trousers and accessories. In 2008 Cavello stopped producing these products and refocused entirely on men's underwear. The brand continued as a commercial trademark of DMK Design, selling boxer shorts through its official webshop and various physical and online retailers. In spring 2012 the brand refreshed its visual identity, dropping the triangle from its logo while keeping the two facing ibexes. Cyclist Thomas Dekker served as the face of the brand. On 24 August 2023 the court of Zeeland-West-Brabant declared DMK Design bankrupt, ending Cavello's production.
