The CIS Group was founded in 1992 in Marseille by entrepreneur Régis Arnoux. His project, in a globalizing world with soaring demand for raw materials, was to feed and house the women and men called to work in life bases — essential tools for energy companies and mining groups exploiting subsoil resources, often in emerging countries or in territories made inhospitable by difficult climatic and environmental conditions. This gave rise to the 'Hôtelier de l'extrême' (Hotelier of the extreme). In 2019 the group began a new governance, with Régis Arnoux affirming his desire to ensure CIS's future. From 2020, CIS Brazil finalized the acquisition of two companies, Alternativa and Béta, strengthening its position in the offshore units universe. As of 2025, the group reported 18,000 employees, 430 operating sites, 16 countries, and €489.2 million in revenue.
