Casio Wave Ceptor is a line of radio-controlled watches produced by Casio Computer Co., Ltd. History
Wave Ceptor developed as part of Casio's broader effort to make radio-controlled timekeeping available in practical consumer watches. The concept uses a low-frequency radio receiver to capture standardized time-code broadcasts from national or regional time services. Rather than relying solely on the accuracy of a quartz oscillator, the watch periodically compares its internal time with the received signal and corrects the display automatically. The system is regional because low-frequency transmitters use different frequencies and signal formats. Casio models have been designed for one or more of the Japanese JJY transmitters, China's BPC broadcast, the United States WWVB service, and European MSF and DCF77 signals. Japanese reception is associated with the 40 kHz transmitter at Mount Otakadoya and the 60 kHz transmitter at Mount Hagane.
