Casino d'Évian

Casino d'Évian is a casino at the heart of the Évian Resort in Évian-les-Bains, France. According to its official history, the Baron de Blonay, then mayor of Évian, bequeathed his family château to the town in 1877 for the purpose of creating a casino; a neo-classical theatre was added in 1885, and in 1886 the town hall and the Société des Eaux decided to build a real municipal casino, entrusting the architecture to Jean-Albert Hébrard. In 1911 the De Blonay château was demolished and Hébrard created a building topped with a Byzantine-inspired dome on the site; Evian Casino was inaugurated on 23rd June 1912. The official website describes the venue as offering multiple gaming areas, restaurants and bars, an adjoining theatre, and events, with Belle Époque architecture facing Lake Geneva.

In 1886 the town hall and the Société des Eaux decided to build a real municipal casino, entrusting the architecture to Jean-Albert Hébrard; Baron de Blonay's residence was not large enough so the Château de Drée was annexed on the west side. In 1911 the De Blonay château was demolished and Jean-Albert Hébrard created a building with distinctive architecture topped with a Byzantine-inspired dome on the site. Evian Casino was inaugurated on 23rd June 1912. The municipal casino quickly became the town's focus for entertainment, offering concerts, evenings of theatre and shows, balls, and gambling.
