Overview
CARAC4 is a private French-language television channel serving Switzerland's Romandy region, owned by the Lausanne-area media group Media One Group. The channel's origins trace back to Booster TV, launched on 10 November 2017 as a vehicle to continue broadcasting the fortune-telling programme "Les clés de l'avenir" after its production company fell into a financial dispute with TVM3. Booster TV was owned by Milk & Honey Media Group AG, based in Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, with share capital of CHF 100,000, and served as the Romandy counterpart to the German-speaking Swiss channel Channel 55, later known as Helvetia One TV. On 1 October 2020 the channel changed hands, becoming the property of CompactMedia SA, based in Steinhausen in the canton of Zug, with capital unchanged at CHF 100,000. It was renamed TV Suisse Plus and its daytime schedule focused mainly on fortune-telling and teleshopping. In September 2022 Media One Group took over the channel and overhauled its programming grid, adding magazines such as "Comme une envie de jardin" with Jamy Gourmaud, the esports magazine "Game On" about Swiss esports, "Salut les Kids!" for children, "Be to B" in partnership with Agefi, "Design Touch" and the cooking show "Spatules", as well as films and TV movies from 9 p.m. daily. In September 2023 TV Suisse Plus was rebranded as CARAC4, with on-air graphics handled by the Romandy agency twks. The channel remained available on the same channels and a new website, carac.tv, was created for live streaming and replays. The renaming was intended primarily to distinguish Rouge FM from Rouge TV, One FM from One TV and LFM from LFM TV. CARAC4's programmes are financed entirely by advertising. It is distributed on analogue cable (UPC Cablecom), via Swisscom TV, and over the internet through its own site as well as on the offers of Salt, naxoo, Zattoo and MyCanal Suisse. Its schedule includes teleshopping, the fortune-telling show "Les Clefs de l'Avenir", the magazines already aired on TV Suisse Plus, and films or TV movies in the late evening.
History
CARAC4's history begins with Booster TV, launched on 10 November 2017. The channel was created specifically to continue broadcasting the fortune-telling programme "Les clés de l'avenir", whose production company was in a financial dispute with the channel TVM3. Booster TV was owned by Milk & Honey Media Group AG, based in Altendorf in the canton of Schwyz, with share capital of CHF 100,000. It became the Romandy counterpart of a channel with a similar programme aimed at German-speaking Switzerland, Channel 55, later known as Helvetia One TV. On 1 October 2020 the channel changed owner and became the property of CompactMedia SA, based in Steinhausen in the canton of Zug. Its capital remained unchanged at CHF 100,000. Its name was changed to TV Suisse Plus, and it broadcast mainly fortune-telling and teleshopping during the day. In September 2022 Media One Group took over the channel and modified its schedule, programming magazines such as "Comme une envie de jardin" with Jamy Gourmaud, the magazine "Game On" on Swiss esports, "Salut les Kids!" for children, "Be to B" in partnership with Agefi, "Design Touch" and the cooking show "Spatules", as well as films and TV movies from 9 p.m. every day. In September 2023 TV Suisse Plus became CARAC4, with the on-air look handled by the Romandy agency twks. The channel remained visible on the same channels and a new website (carac.tv) was created to watch the live stream and replays. The name change was intended mainly to differentiate Rouge FM from Rouge TV, One FM from One TV and LFM from LFM TV. The channel's programmes are entirely financed by advertising. It is broadcast on analogue cable (UPC Cablecom), via Swisscom TV and on the internet via streaming on its own site as well as on the offers of Salt, naxoo, Zattoo and MyCanal Suisse. Its programming includes teleshopping and the fortune-telling show "Les Clefs de l'Avenir" as well as the magazines already broadcast on TV Suisse Plus. The channel also airs TV movies or films in the late evening.
