California Water Service (Cal Water) was formed in 1926. According to the company's centennial page, three World War I veterans returned from the war with a vision to provide water to Americans heading out West, and the company began in 1926 in four California communities. A century later, Cal Water celebrates delivering "Trust on Tap" for 100 years and now provides safe, clean, reliable water to more than 2.1 million people. The company states that throughout its 100-year history it has supported customers through storms, fires, earthquakes, and the pandemic, and that its investment in infrastructure was critical from the outset.
