Caffè Tommaseo

Caffè Tommaseo is a historic café and restaurant in Trieste, Italy. It was founded in 1830 as Caffè Tomaso by Tomaso Marcato, and in 1848 it was renamed Caffè Tommaseo in honour of the patriot and man of letters Niccolò Tommaseo. Today it operates as Antico Ristorante Tommaseo, offering breakfasts, lunches, dinners, private events, wedding receptions, tastings and baby showers.

In 1830, when Trieste was a city in full cultural and commercial ferment, Caffè Tomaso was founded by Tomaso Marcato, who introduced a new style for the era: well-kept environments, refined furnishings and a new sensibility in hospitality.
