History
According to the company's own account, the foundation stone of the Chemnitz chemical plant engineering firm CAC was laid in 1811, when craftsman Johann Samuel Schwalbe founded a machine-building workshop in Chemnitz/Saxony, from which the well-known 'Germania' machine factory emerged. Since 1964, large-scale plants for the chemical industry have been planned, delivered and commissioned at the Chemnitz site for various domestic and foreign markets, and the Anlagenbau Chemnitz developed into a specialized firm for international chemical plant engineering. In the course of the social and economic changes within Germany, the company was taken over in 1990 by Lurgi AG of Frankfurt am Main, a long-established, globally operating engineering company. Over the following 14 years, numerous large-scale projects were handled in cooperation with Lurgi AG and under the company's own responsibility. Since 1 April 2004, the re-founding through a management buy-out (MBO), the company has operated again as an owner-managed family company in its traditional and meanwhile also new business fields.
