Allegations of broadband speed misrepresentation
Residents and businesses in Isla Mujeres and parts of Cancún and Mérida alleged that Cablemás internet connections were unstable and that actual speeds were far below advertised 10 Mbit/s rates. Local municipal testing was reported to have found speeds as low as approximately 0.5 or 0.3 Mbit/s. In December 2014, Isla Mujeres authorities said they would investigate and recommend sanctions to the governor of Quintana Roo.
