History
Cabasse traces its roots to six generations of Cabasse luthiers between 1730 and 1860. The Maison Cabasse was created in 1950 by Georges Cabasse, an electrical engineer, music lover and heir to a lineage of French luthiers. From the beginning, the Maison pursued the faithful reproduction of sound in its purest form. In 1952, it provided cinema sound reinforcement with the Diphone, the brand's first coaxial loudspeaker. In 1958, it produced its first three-way loudspeaker. In 1974, the Brigantin VTA and Gallion 3VTA became its first active three-way loudspeakers with dual bass servo control, used in Radio France studios. In 1981, the Albatros four-way model was introduced. A pioneer of coaxial loudspeaker technology, Cabasse aligned all drivers on the same axis to preserve tonal coherence and spatial realism. Over the decades, it created emblematic loudspeakers including Atlantis, La Sphère, Galion and Sampan, and conceived acoustic installations for cultural spaces such as Le Grand Rex and La Géode in Paris. For more than seventy-five years, the Maison has evolved alongside new listening rituals and technologies, extending its savoir-faire from traditional high-fidelity to connected and wireless audio systems. In 2026, Cabasse was acquired by Loewe Technology.
