History

Burcon NutraScience Corporation was formed in November 1998 as a venture capital pool corporation whose principal business was to identify and evaluate assets, properties and businesses for acquisition. On October 8, 1999, Burcon acquired BMW Canola Inc. of Winnipeg, Manitoba (now renamed Burcon NutraScience (MB) Corp.). Since that time, Burcon has evolved to become a global technology leader and innovator in the development of best-in-class plant-based proteins that offer superior taste, nutrition and functionality. With over two decades of experience, Burcon has amassed an extensive patent portfolio of composition, application, and process patents covering novel plant-based proteins derived from pea, canola, soy, hemp, sunflower seed and more.
