Overview
The Bund der Öffentlich bestellten Vermessungsingenieure (BDVI) e. V. is a German professional association for publicly appointed surveyors (Öffentlich bestellte Vermessungsingenieure, ÖbVI). It is registered as an eingetragener Verein (registered association) and is listed in the Lobbyregister of the German Bundestag as an interest representation. The association currently has around 1,300 members. As an economic and professional association, it represents the interests of its members both among themselves and vis-à-vis politics, business and administration. Its purpose is to perceive and promote all interests of publicly appointed surveyors, to cultivate a relationship of trust with supervisory authorities in line with the professional code applicable to ÖbVI, and to provide scientific and professional support to its members and their staff. The BDVI continues the tradition of the association of independent sworn surveyors in Prussia founded in Berlin on 28 February 1898 and its successor organisations. It has been entered in the register of associations since 30 April 1949. Together with DVW – Gesellschaft für Geodäsie, Geoinformation und Landmanagement and the Verband Deutscher Vermessungsingenieure (VDV), the BDVI is a co-founder of the Interessengemeinschaft Geodäsie (IGG). The association is organised into regional groups (Landesgruppen) that carry out association tasks to the extent that the competencies of the federal states in the field of surveying apply. Its organs are the Präsidium (presidium), the Hauptvorstand (main board) and the Mitgliederversammlung (general assembly). The federal office of the BDVI is located in Berlin. The president is Clemens Kiepke.
History
The BDVI traces its tradition back to the association of independent sworn surveyors in Prussia (Vereinigung selbstständiger in Preußen vereideter Landmesser zu Berlin), founded in Berlin on 28 February 1898. This organisation and its successor bodies laid the groundwork for the modern professional representation of publicly appointed surveyors in Germany. The BDVI itself has been entered in the register of associations (Vereinsregister) since 30 April 1949. Over the decades, it has developed into a nationwide economic and professional association. Together with DVW – Gesellschaft für Geodäsie, Geoinformation und Landmanagement and the Verband Deutscher Vermessungsingenieure (VDV), it co-founded the Interessengemeinschaft Geodäsie (IGG), a joint platform for the geodetic community. Today the BDVI represents around 1,300 members and is registered in the Lobbyregister of the German Bundestag. Its federal office is in Berlin, and its president is Clemens Kiepke.
