Overview

BRUNATA-METRONA is a German service provider specializing in the consumption-based measurement, analysis, and billing of energy and water usage in buildings. It develops and operates metering and data systems that enable transparent tracking of heating, water, and energy costs and ensure they are billed based on actual usage. Its core services include heating cost billing, water and energy consumption tracking, smart metering, energy management for buildings, and smoke alarm service. Its main target groups are property management companies, housing associations, homeowners' associations and landlords. The group reports approximately 2,000 employees, around 25 million metering devices in use, and about 3 million units managed, with over 40 branches and more than 60 service centers. It operates several independent parent companies in Hamburg, Cologne and Munich, and its market area is Germany.

History

The different company names have historical reasons. In the 1950s, the founders of the BRUNATA-METRONA Group — Uwe Hagen in Hamburg, Carl Schultheiss in Cologne and Adolf Schmucker in Munich — acquired a license from the Danish company Brunata. At the same time, Brunata granted a license for the area of Baden-Württemberg and Saarland as well as parts of Hesse, Rhineland-Palatinate and Bavaria to a company in Stuttgart, today's Minol Messtechnik. Because they could not operate as BRUNATA outside their home territories, the sister company METRONA took over the activities in the southwest from 1983. Across the whole of Germany the group uses the trademark BRUNATA-METRONA, with the exception of the southwest, where it appears as METRONA.
