Brütting

Brütting is a German footwear brand operated by the owner-managed sister companies GEKA Sport GmbH and Brütting Co. EB-Sport International GmbH, based in Küps near Kronach in southern Germany. The company develops and produces leisure, sport and outdoor shoes for women, men and children of all ages, and states that its brands stand for excellent fit, quality and a high technical standard. It was founded in 1946 by the trained shoe modeler Eugen Brütting, and today employs around 80 people at its Küps and Lichtenfels locations, serving a large part of the European market.

Brütting traces its origins to the period after World War II, when the trained shoe modeler Eugen Brütting laid the foundation for his own shoe factory in 1946. In close contact with athletes and the New Zealand successful coach Arthur L. Lydiard, perfect running shoes such as the legendary "Roadrunner" were developed over the decades, worn by the entire running elite thanks to their well-conceived lasts and still enjoying cult status today. In parallel, Gerhard Krapp started his own company GEKA in 1973, which quickly made a good name for itself in the shoe and sport sector with its own collections. In the mid-1980s Eugen Brütting handed over his company to Krapp and his partners, though he did not fully retire and remained active for several years as a permanent consultant for the further development of the lasts. In 1991 GEKA acquired the "LICO" brand, which meanwhile makes up a large part of the collection. After years of expansion, Brütting introduced its own brand "EB-Kids" in 2007, replacing its well-known "Maus" collection in the children's shoe segment. The outdoor segment is also new and has been very successful for several years.
