Boyo Social Welfare Foundation

The Boyo Social Welfare Foundation (博幼基金會) is a Taiwanese charitable foundation established in 2002 by Lee Chia-tung, former president of National Chi Nan University, in Puli Township, Nantou County. Originally named the Nantou County Boyo Social Welfare and Charity Foundation, it began by working with junior high and elementary schools, churches, and Chi Nan University students to provide after-school tutoring to disadvantaged students in Nantou County. Its mission is to raise the learning achievement and self-confidence of children in under-resourced rural areas so they can choose their future careers and lifestyles. Under three service strategies — educational support, social work counseling, and graduate tracking — it addresses children's rights to education, health, and development, trains community teachers, and develops learning materials. Its vision is "educational poverty alleviation, letting knowledge bring hope home." The foundation states it serves 3,000 children annually and notes that more than 100,000 children across Taiwan still need help. It has also partnered with TVBS on a "Mountain Mobile Library" project.
