Overview
Boca Raton Championship Wrestling, commonly abbreviated as BRCW, is an independent professional wrestling promotion founded in Boca Raton, Florida, in May 2022 by Matthew Maschler and Neil Glazier. The organization grew out of the professional-wrestling interests of its founders, who also host the MatthewMania podcast. Its name refers directly to the Florida city in which the promotion was established. BRCW presented its first live event on May 15, 2022, at Boca Black Box. The event was subsequently broadcast on YouTube, establishing the promotion's principal distribution model. Ryan Katz, a producer associated with WWE's NXT creative operation, joined Maschler as a host for the opening program. The debut show included a six-way ladder match involving Lakay, Alan Martinez, Ariel Levy, Jack Talos, Kerry Morton, and TC Read. Lakay won the match and became the inaugural BRCW Heavyweight Champion. The promotion initially announced plans for weekly programming, but it later adopted a monthly-event format instead. Its output has included live wrestling events, online video programming, championship matches, and special events connected to larger wrestling weekends. Summer Smash, a web-based series, premiered on BRCW's YouTube channel in September 2022. Other named events have included November Knock Down and Cruisin' For A Bruisin'. BRCW expanded its championship structure during its early years. MJ Jenkins became the inaugural Women's Champion in June 2022 after defeating Kiah Dream and KiLynn King. Mark Long was crowned BRCW All-Star Champion at the Challenge Accepted event in July 2022. The Island Kings, consisting of Jaka and Sean Maluta, won the inaugural BRCW Tag Team Championship in a four-way ladder match on November 5, 2023. In early 2023, former WWF performer Edward Leslie was announced as the promotion's commissioner. The organization has worked with other wrestling entities. In 2022, BRCW announced a strategic partnership with Coastal Championship Wrestling. It also staged an NWA x BRCW association in July 2022, during which Kerry Morton defeated Alan Martinez for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. BRCW has also brought in recognizable independent and nationally known performers, including MJF, QT Marshall, Matt Taven, The Righteous, and Big Boom AJ. MJF's December 2024 appearance against QT Marshall was described as his first independent wrestling appearance in approximately a year. BRCW operates primarily as a live-event and digital-content promotion rather than a publicly traded company. Its events have been held at venues in and around Boca Raton, including The Loft At Congress, VIP Ballroom at CBI, and The Studio at Mizner Park. The available reference material describes a promotion with a regional Florida base, a YouTube-oriented broadcast presence, and ambitions to participate in larger wrestling and WrestleMania-related markets. Financial information, ownership structure, and a formal corporate parent have not been publicly established in the supplied sources.
History
Boca Raton Championship Wrestling was established in May 2022 by Matthew Maschler and Neil Glazier in Boca Raton, Florida. Both founders were associated with the MatthewMania podcast, a video program focused on professional wrestling events and WWE fan experiences. The promotion's name was derived from the location of its founding rather than from an existing national wrestling brand. BRCW's first event took place on May 15, 2022, at Boca Black Box. The show was distributed through YouTube after the live presentation, creating the digital-release model that became central to the promotion. Ryan Katz, identified in the reference material as an NXT creative producer, joined Maschler as a host for the opening program. The main championship contest was a six-way ladder match featuring Lakay, Alan Martinez, Ariel Levy, Jack Talos, Kerry Morton, and TC Read. Lakay won the match and became the inaugural BRCW Heavyweight Champion. The organization initially discussed producing weekly programming, but it did not sustain that schedule. BRCW instead settled into a monthly-event structure, supplemented by special events and online programs. Its first named web series, Summer Smash, premiered on YouTube on September 4, 2022. November Knock Down, held at The Loft At Congress in Boca Raton on November 6, 2022, was among the promotion's early major events. Jack Talos won a four-way final involving Cezar Bononi, Cha Cha Charlie, and Stallion Rogers for the BRCW Heavyweight Championship. Commentary was provided by Matthew Rehwoldt and Brad Williams, and the show later became available on YouTube. Another early event, Cruisin' For A Bruisin', took place at the VIP Ballroom at CBI on January 31, 2023, with commentary from Matthew Rehwoldt and Shaul Guerrero; the event was not broadcast on BRCW's YouTube channel according to the supplied reference. BRCW developed a multi-division championship system during its first year. On June 11, 2022, at The Loft At Congress, MJ Jenkins defeated Kiah Dream and KiLynn King to become the inaugural Women's Champion. At the July Challenge Accepted event, Mark Long was crowned BRCW All-Star Champion. On November 5, 2023, The Island Kings, Jaka and Sean Maluta, defeated The Bollywood Boyz, The Righteous, and Daisy Kill and Jack Talos in a four-way ladder match to become the first BRCW Tag Team Champions. The promotion also sought relationships with other wrestling organizations. In early 2022, BRCW announced a strategic partnership with Coastal Championship Wrestling. A separate NWA x BRCW association was reported on July 19, 2022. During that association, Kerry Morton defeated Alan Martinez to become NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion. In early 2023, Edward Leslie, a former WWF performer, was announced as BRCW's commissioner. BRCW's programming has included a mix of local and touring presentations. Its events have been staged at Boca Raton venues including Boca Black Box, The Loft At Congress, the VIP Ballroom at CBI, and The Studio at Mizner Park, the latter described as having hosted the greatest number of events. The promotion later announced a Las Vegas presentation, BRCW Vegas Vacation, associated with WrestleMania 42 weekend. The reference material states that BRCW had produced 25 chronological events, although a complete event list and full event dates are not supplied here. In late 2024, BRCW announced a Festival of Fights match between MJF and QT Marshall, alongside appearances by The Righteous and Matt Taven. On December 15, MJF defeated QT Marshall, with Big Boom AJ also appearing. The match was characterized as MJF's first independent appearance after approximately one year. The available material also records an August 2026 announcement that Steve Maclin had been suspended indefinitely and that the BRCW Heavyweight Championship had been vacated. Because that item is future-dated relative to some archival descriptions, its present status should be verified against current promotion records. Beyond wrestling events, BRCW is connected to the MatthewMania video podcast founded by Maschler. The podcast has featured wrestling personalities including Bill Alfonso, Madman Fulton, M.J. Jenkins, and Noah Kekoa. BRCW's broadcast and entertainment personnel have included Charlie Parra, Matthew Rehwoldt, Ricardo Rodriguez, Val Capone, Samira, and Shaul Guerrero. The promotion has been described as receiving positive attention for its in-ring presentation, production, and audience, although independent audience or financial measurements are not provided in the supplied sources.
