Blumen Risse

Blumen Risse is a German family business in the flower and plant retail sector. Its roots lie in Eduard Risse's nursery, which was later inherited by his son Peter. In 1968 Peter Risse and his sister Ursula Mantai opened the first flower shop in Schwerte, North Rhine-Westphalia. Since then the company has added further shops, flower markets and garden centres in four federal states as well as an online shop. With over 130 locations it is one of the largest retail companies in the flower and plant sector in Germany. The company is led by Tina Risse-Stock, Hans-Jörg Braß and Marcus Mertens.

The roots of the family business lie in the nursery of Eduard Risse, who opened a large nursery in 1933 and later passed the business to his son Peter. Peter Risse decided to end plant cultivation and, together with his sister Ursula Mantai, opened the first flower shop in 1968 in Schwerte, North Rhine-Westphalia. In 1973, the oil crisis led to a greater focus on flower retailing; the company acquired its own truck fleet, sold the nursery in Dortmund-Lichtendorf and leased the nursery in Dortmund-Hohensyburg. By 1975, Blumen Risse employed 176 staff. In 1978, the headquarters were established in the Schwerte commercial area 'Im Ostfeld' and the first garden centre opened in Recklinghausen. In 1980, an in-house training department was set up and further flower shops began to open. In 1984, the first flower market opened in Ennepetal and the headquarters were expanded. By 1999, the headquarters and warehouse had been expanded and numerous flower shops, flower markets and garden centres opened. In 2006, Tina Risse-Stock took over the company. Today, Blumen Risse has over 130 locations and is one of the largest retail companies in the flower and plant sector in Germany. The company is managed by Tina Risse-Stock, Hans-Jörg Braß and Marcus Mertens.
