Overview
Blikk Holding GmbH (stylised as blikk Holding GmbH) is a German medical technology holding company that brings together radiology and nuclear medicine practices across Germany. It was founded in 2018 as UNA 378. Equity Management GmbH, a vehicle created after Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) acquired majority stakes in the Radiologische Gemeinschaftspraxis Herne and the Ranova Überörtliche Gemeinschaftspraxis für Radiologie und Nuklearmedizin in 2017. The company was initially registered in Frankfurt am Main, moved its seat to Unna in 2019 and adopted the name Blikk Holding GmbH, and later relocated its administration to Dortmund-Schüren in 2020, where it remains headquartered. Blikk operates a network of more than 30 practices and one clinic, the Klinik Helle Mitte in Berlin, with locations in Berlin, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia. Its service portfolio covers the full spectrum of radiological, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy diagnostics and treatments, including interventional radiology, computed tomography, digital X-ray, fluoroscopy, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), bone density measurement, mammography, open MRI and ultrasound. In nuclear medicine it offers DaTSCAN scintigraphy, myocardial scintigraphy, PET-CT, radiosynoviorthesis (RSO), thyroid scintigraphy and skeletal scintigraphy. For complex cases, Blikk provides advanced procedures such as 3-Tesla MRI, 3D ultrasound, cardiac MRI, coronary CT and PET/CT, along with specialists in neuroradiology, prostate diagnostics, oncological and rheumatological imaging, and paediatric radiology. The Klinik Helle Mitte in Berlin focuses on the treatment of degenerative spinal diseases. Ownership of Blikk has evolved through several transactions. In July 2021, DBAG completed the sale of its stake in Blikk Holding GmbH to EQT Infrastructure V, a fund of the global investment organisation EQT. In October 2021, Blikk Holding GmbH merged with Meine Radiologie Holding GmbH, which had also been sold to EQT Infrastructure V by Triton Beratungsgesellschaft GmbH in July of that year. Under EQT ownership, the two practice groups form one of the largest radiology and radiotherapy groups in Germany, with a combined total of 65 practice locations and more than 1,700 employees. Blikk Holding GmbH itself reports more than 1,000 employees and is managed by a two-person executive team: Dirk Knüppel as CEO and Axel Mau as CFO, supported by an extended management board including Christian Wiedemeyer and Peter Bänsch. The holding company bundles several operating entities, including the Klinik Helle-Mitte, the üBAG blikk Radiologie Ruhr Nord GbR, the üBAG blikk Radiologie Ruhr Süd/Ost GbR, MVZ blikk Braunschweig GmbH and MVZ blikk Hamburg Rahlstedt GmbH. Within the two üBAGs, further MVZs and practices are consolidated. Blikk is present in Germany in Dortmund (headquarters), Unna, Kamen, Werne, Schwerte, Bochum, Witten, Hagen, Hattingen, Herne, Herten, Braunschweig, Hamburg Rahlstedt and Berlin.
History
Blikk Holding GmbH traces its origins to 2017, when Deutsche Beteiligungs AG (DBAG) acquired majority stakes in two medical practice groups: the Radiologische Gemeinschaftspraxis Herne and the Ranova Überörtliche Gemeinschaftspraxis für Radiologie und Nuklearmedizin. From this combination, UNA 378. Equity Management GmbH was founded in 2018, with DBAG as majority shareholder. The new company was seated in Frankfurt am Main and registered with the local court there. In May 2019, the shareholders' meeting resolved to move the company's seat from Hesse to Unna in North Rhine-Westphalia, which also entailed a change of jurisdiction to the Amtsgericht Hamm. Following the relocation in October of that year, the company was renamed Blikk Holding GmbH. In autumn 2019, it took over the Klinik Helle Mitte in Berlin. In August 2020, the company's administration moved from Unna to Dortmund-Schüren, to the Stadtkrone-Ost area, and it has since been registered with the Dortmund local court. A significant ownership change occurred in July 2021, when DBAG completed the sale of its stake in Blikk Holding GmbH to EQT Infrastructure V, a fund of the global investment organisation EQT. In October 2021, Blikk Holding GmbH merged with Meine Radiologie Holding GmbH, whose shares had also been sold to EQT Infrastructure V by Triton Beratungsgesellschaft GmbH in July of that year. Under the new owner EQT, the two medical practice groups, Blikk Holding GmbH and Meine Radiologie Holding GmbH, formed one of the largest radiology and radiotherapy groups in Germany, with a total of 65 practice locations and more than 1,700 employees. Today, Blikk Holding GmbH operates nationwide in Germany, with more than 30 practices in Berlin, Hamburg, Lower Saxony and North Rhine-Westphalia, plus one clinic in Berlin. The company has more than 1,000 employees. Its management consists of Dirk Knüppel as CEO and Axel Mau as CFO, supported by an extended management board including Christian Wiedemeyer and Peter Bänsch. The holding company bundles the Klinik Helle-Mitte, the üBAG blikk Radiologie Ruhr Nord GbR, the üBAG blikk Radiologie Ruhr Süd/Ost GbR, MVZ blikk Braunschweig GmbH and MVZ blikk Hamburg Rahlstedt GmbH. Within the two üBAGs, further MVZs and practices are consolidated.
