According to its own chronicle, the foundation was laid on January 1, 1936, when Willy Blaser, unemployed at twenty years old, developed his first successful product, BlahaGlanz waterproof shoe cream, in his parents' cellar and took it on sales trips with bicycle and trailer around the Emmental farmhouses. In 1942 the first company building with office, forwarding and laboratory was established in Hasle-Rüegsau. In 1946 Willy Blaser founded the first pension fund in Switzerland. In 1950, together with his brothers Hans and Werner, he turned the company into a specialized manufacturer of cleaning and care products and lubricants. In 1973 Willy's oldest son Peter joined the family company, realizing that to position the company internationally he needed to invest in producing cutting fluids for the machining industry. In 1978 the company expanded to Asia by entering the Japanese market, and in 1981 the first Blaser subsidiary, Blaser Swisslube USA, was founded. The company describes itself as a solid family company for three generations, with research and development located exclusively in Hasle-Ruegsau.
