Bladnoch Distillery

Bladnoch Distillery describes itself as the home of its bold Galloway spirit since 1817, and states it has been distilling Lowland Single Malt Scotch Whisky since that year. It sources water from the Bladnoch River and malt from British growers, and describes itself as the southernmost distillery in Scotland. Its whiskies are organised into three collections: The Bold Collection, The Galloway Collection and The Spirited Collection. The distillery states it is the oldest independently owned Scotch whisky distillery. In 2015 Australian entrepreneur David Prior acquired the company from Raymond and Colin Armstrong and began an extensive refurbishment; after two years of renovations under Master Distiller Ian MacMillan, production resumed in 2017, the year Bladnoch celebrated its 200 year anniversary. In 2019 Dr Nick Savage joined as Master Distiller, and Bladnoch launched a Visitor Centre experience, gift shop and Melba Cafe.

  The first release in Bladnoch's latest series, exploring the role of time in whisky maturation; drawn from a 1,500-litre Amontillado Sherry tun where selected Bladnoch whiskies originally matured in ex-Bourbon casks were brought together.

• The Wave II

  The latest release in Bladnoch's Master Distillers series, focusing on the distillery and spirit character; marries re-charred butts and barrels with first-fill ex-Bourbon barrels in the second Amontillado Sherry tun.
