History
Blackhawk Mining, LLC was founded in 2010, beginning by acquiring key coal reserves in the Central Appalachian Basin. The company reached a production peak of nearly 14 million tons of coal in 2017, before shifting its focus to metallurgical coal. In June 2020, Sev.en Global Investments acquired 100% ownership of Blackhawk Mining. Today, Blackhawk Mining operates eight mining complexes across southern West Virginia and eastern Kentucky, employing over 1,800 people.
