Overview
BIOTTI card clothing is an Italian company that has produced flexible card clothing since 1879, when Giovanni Biotti started the business in Intra. Over more than a century it developed and patented card clothing products and grinding equipment, and today it offers a wide range of card clothing and accessories distributed worldwide through specialized agents.
History
Giovanni Biotti started a company for the production of flexible card clothing in 1879, one of the first in Italy, located in Intra. In 1910 Giovanni Biotti patented a special handle to support hand cleaning cards with metal clips. In 1919 Giovanni Biotti's son Alfonso and Alfredo Margarini developed new products and increased production capacity at the new "Pontini" location in Intra. In 1922 Alfredo Margarini became the sole owner of the company and started a technological development in card clothing products. In 1925 a new project for a special continuous grinding machine to grind flexible card clothing was undertaken. In 1931 a new factory was established at "al Maglio" location, always in Intra. In 1933 an innovation in the planciotti for card clothing grinding was patented. In 1950 capacity was increased and the factory extended due to high demand of the domestic market. In 1955 the second generation of the Margarini family, with Giuseppe and Lorenzo, joined. In 1972 the company achieved the highest demand and sales on the domestic market. In 1979 a celebration was held. Today, after more than 145 years of production, BIOTTI card clothing offers a wide range of products distributed worldwide through a network of specialized agents.
