bilgro

bilgro is a German regional beverage store chain. It was founded in 1979 by Bärbel Geins and Wolfgang Geins. The company operates over 120 locations in five federal states and stocks over 3,500 beverages.

The brand 'bilgro' originated in 1979 as a pure beverage wholesale business in Passau, run by the senior boss. Bärbel Geins, the young daughter-in-law, had the idea to add a second pillar and open their own beverage pick-up market. The senior refused any financial support, so Bärbel and her husband Wolfgang had to take the risk alone with their own capital. They opened their first bilgro market, which ran very well and soon had a name in Passau. They then thought about opening a second location. At a meeting, the senior boss said: '...and WE will soon open OUR second bilgro market here in Passau.' Thus the brand 'bilgro' and its success story were born.
