Overview

Big Fashion is a shopping mall located in Novi Sad, Serbia, at the corner of Bulevar oslobođenja and Bulevar cara Lazara. It opened on 15 November 2018 under the name Promenada, initially as the largest shopping center in Vojvodina. The investment was made by South African company NEPI Rockcastle. On 7 October 2024, NEPI Rockcastle sold the mall to Dutch company CEE BIG B.V., which owns the Big shopping center chain. The mall was renamed Big Fashion Novi Sad on 10 April 2025. With a total built area of 150,000 square meters, it is the third-largest shopping center in Serbia, after Galerija Belgrade and Prishtina Mall. The mall has three floors and a basement, along with a garage with 1,500 parking spaces. It primarily hosts clothing and footwear stores from world-famous brands, as well as sports equipment stores, goldsmiths and jewelry stores, perfumeries and cosmetics stores, a supermarket, numerous restaurants, a cinema, and a gym. Basketball courts are located on the plateau in front of the shopping center. The official website promotes a wide range of domestic and international brands, gastro corners, and content for enjoyment, with the slogan 'THINK BIG!'.

History

The city of Novi Sad sold the plot where the shopping center would be built to South African company NEPI Rockcastle in April 2016. The plot had previously been tennis courts and, before that, an auxiliary field of Football Club Vojvodina. Construction of the shopping center began in June 2017. It was designed to have an area of 115,000 square meters, as well as solar panels on the facade, green and water areas, and sports courts on the roof. However, most of these plans were not implemented, so sports courts are only at ground level, the number and size of green areas were significantly reduced, and there are no water areas or solar panels at all. To protect the foundation from groundwater, NEPI Rockcastle built pumping wells that pump water into the city's sewage system at a flow rate of 60 liters per second, although, according to Radio 021, this is not an adequate solution for the part of the city where the center is located, given the type of soil on which it was built. The Novi Sad public utility company 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' refused to allow the company to build the wells, but it continued with the works anyway, and soon a building permit was issued for them. The shopping center opened on 15 November 2018 with a temporary use permit for one year. The temporary use permit expired on 1 April 2020, and a permanent one was obtained on 22 May of the same year. On 7 October 2024, NEPI Rockcastle sold the shopping center to Dutch company CEE BIG B.V., which owns the Big shopping center chain. That company announced that on 10 April 2025 the name of the shopping center would be changed to 'Big Fashion Novi Sad'.
