BFS Companies began in 1974 as an agriculture business (Bruceton Farm Service) when Marshall Bishop purchased a Southern States store in Bruceton Mills, WV. It has since grown to include convenience stores, liquor stores, franchise fast food, agricultural services, and fuel distribution. The company operates more than 90 convenience stores and 20 liquor stores across WV, MD, PA, OH, and VA, and employs over 2,000 people. It remains a private, family owned and operated corporation headquartered in Morgantown, WV.

The company also operates 80+ branded fast foods inside or beside its convenience store locations, including Burger King, Little Caesars Pizza, Subway, Dairy Queen, IHOP, Huddle House, and Tim Hortons Café & Bake Shop.
