Overview

BFM2 is a French national private continuous news television channel that forms part of the RMC BFM subsidiary of the CMA CGM group. It was launched on 25 September 2024 at 15:00. BFM2 serves as the complementary channel to the main national news channel BFM TV. This offshoot is primarily operated as an additional broadcast channel for BFM TV, notably during events that require live retransmission. The BFM2 programme is not broadcast on digital terrestrial television (TNT) but is accessible via the set-top boxes of certain operators as well as on digital platforms. In 2024, the channel employed a team of around 30 journalists specialising in audio and video. It uses a lightweight control room to manage the broadcasting of content. The idea for this channel was born about two years before its launch, when BFMTV began broadcasting certain events live on its website and application that were not shown on its main channel. In August 2023, the then general director of BFM TV, Marc-Olivier Fogiel, announced the project under the title BFM2 and described it as a digital broadcast channel produced internally, allowing viewers to "watch the other news too when it clashes." The headquarters of BFM2 is located at 2 rue du Général-Alain-de-Boissieu in the 15th arrondissement of Paris. It joins the premises of RMC, RMC Story, RMC Découverte, RMC Life, RMC Sport, RMC Gold, BFM TV, BFM Radio, BFM Business, the headquarters of the BFM Locales network and those of Altice Média. Since July 2024, Nicolas de Tavernost has been chairman and CEO of RMC BFM.
