Overview
Bet Moreshet (Hebrew: בית מורשת, "House of Heritage") is an Israeli non-profit association (amuta) that initiates, establishes, and manages projects combining social responsibility, education, and Jewish-Israeli heritage. Founded in 2001 as a Torah nucleus (gar'in) within the Moreshet network, it registered as an independent association in 2003. Its headquarters are in Ma'ale Adumim, and as of 2025 it is headed by its founder, Rabbi Eli Kaplan. The organization operates three pre-military academies (mechinot): Mechinat Eitan in Ma'ale Adumim, its branch Mechinat Gabriel in the Jordan Valley, and Mechinat Tzur Moshe in Pisgat Ze'ev. It also runs a unique educational kolel within the AMIT Eitan school, various batei midrash for women, seniors, and other groups, two children's clubs (including one for children with special needs and one for welfare children), afternoon programs (tzaharonim), summer camps, a kindergarten rabbis program, and an online store for educational products. Since 2024 it operates the Moreshet Channel, a social media channel covering Jewish heritage topics. The association reaches approximately 30,000 people annually. Its activity turnover for the decade 2011–2020 was about 33 million shekels, based on service provision, government and local funding, and donations. In 2020 it underwent a rebranding, adopting a new logo of two hands facing each other with four circles, and the motto "Together we take responsibility."
History
Bet Moreshet began its journey in 2001 as part of the Moreshet network of nuclei (gar'inim), initiated by Rabbi Eli Kaplan, a resident of Ma'ale Adumim and a student of Rabbi Zvi Yehuda HaCohen Kook. In 2003 it registered as an independent association. Initially it operated as a Torah nucleus in Ma'ale Adumim, crystallizing around an educational beit midrash established by the association. Over the years, the association turned to developing educational and social projects for the entire population of Ma'ale Adumim, in cooperation with municipal bodies, blurring the distinction between the nucleus population and the general population and emphasizing the needs of the entire community. During this decade, Bet Moreshet strengthened its position in the local sphere. In recent years, the association began directing its activities toward establishing and leading projects on the national level, not only locally. In this decade, Bet Moreshet strengthened its ties with government and institutional bodies and established a pre-military academy, developed models for community work, and focused on creating partnerships and projects in its fields of activity. The association currently operates Mechinat Eitan, located in the Mishor Adumim and open to the entire Israeli population. Mechinat Eitan was founded in 2010 and received official recognition in 2015. The mechina has several tracks such as agriculture, construction, and wood and metalwork. Some students have no home to return to. The association is working to establish a permanent campus for the mechina at a site overlooking the Judean Desert. Bet Moreshet operates an educational kolel within the AMIT Eitan school, headed by Rabbi Ilan Mark, in which students are integrated into diverse educational work as teaching trainees, kindergarten rabbis, and instructors from the start of their studies. Alongside the kolel, various batei midrash operate for tailored populations, including women, seniors, and other groups. The association currently operates two children's clubs: the Tz.M.D. club for children with special needs and a club for welfare children. The Tz.M.D. club is a space designed to give children with special needs an opportunity for social encounter. As an expression of the association's approach, the club is located in the Ulpanat Tzvia in the city, and during the week dozens of girls from the ulpana mentor and accompany the children. The welfare children's club is intended for children who need a supportive learning framework, a hot meal, and warm attention after school. Bet Moreshet operates additional projects for the younger population, such as: afternoon programs, summer camps and clubs, a kindergarten rabbis program, and an online store for educational products. In total, the association operates among approximately 30,000 people each year. The association's activity turnover in the ten years between 2011–2020 was about 33,000,000 shekels, based on providing services in return, government and local funding, and donations. Since 2024, the association has operated the Moreshet Channel, a new communication channel on social networks. The channel deals with all areas of Jewish heritage: the weekly Torah portion, knowledge of the land, couplehood, education, family, music, children, history, current events, and more. The association operates three pre-military academies: Mechinat Eitan in Ma'ale Adumim, its branch Mechinat Gabriel in Mavo'ot Yericho, and Mechinat Tzur Moshe in Pisgat Ze'ev. In 2020, the association underwent rebranding, in which its logo was replaced. The current logo shows two hands facing each other expressing support and cooperation, with four circles between them symbolizing the diverse fields of activity. The logos of the various fields are also based on the main logo, and their colors express diversity in activity. The association's motto, appearing together with the logo, was also replaced as part of the rebranding: "Together we take responsibility."
