History

Paul Bernstock and Thelma Speirs met whilst studying Fashion at Middlesex University and in 1982 established the label Bernstock Speirs. Inspired by the underground club and music scene, they began creating men’s and women’s hats which challenged the traditional ideas of millinery. Bernstock Speirs design and manufacture the hats from their studio in Shoreditch, where they have been based for the past 40 years.
