Overview
Berezovsky KSI (Berezovsky Kombinat Silikatnykh Izdely, or Berezovsky Silicate Products Combine) is a Belarusian industrial enterprise in the construction materials sector. It is located in the Beryozovsky rural council of Beryozovsky District, Brest Region, Belarus. The company traces its origins to the Novoberyozovsky lime plant, built between 1958 and 1961, which was reorganized into the Berezovsky Silicate Products Combine in 1990. In 2000, the combine was transformed into an open joint-stock company (OAO), though some sources indicate the transformation occurred in 1990. The enterprise produced construction lime, small wall blocks, and expanded polystyrene insulation boards. In 2007, it was privatized by the Tripl Group, owned by Yuri Chizh, a native of Beryozovsky District. After privatization, the company supplied products to Chizh's construction business and for export, but remained loss-making. In 2016, Chizh began restructuring the Tripl Group, merging sales departments with Quartzmelprom under the SLS Group brand. On 23 July 2019, the Economic Court of Brest Region initiated bankruptcy proceedings against OAO Berezovsky KSI. In February 2020, Ukraine imposed anti-dumping duties on its aerated concrete blocks. On 7 April 2020, the court declared the company bankrupt and appointed rehabilitation (sanation). In May 2020, the parent company Tripl filed for bankruptcy. On 30 April 2026, the shareholders' meeting decided to liquidate the company, with the file published on 7 May 2026. The company was also included in the EU sanctions list against Yuri Chizh and his companies on 23 March 2012, but the sanctions were annulled by the EU Court on 6 October 2015.
History
The history of Berezovsky KSI begins with the Novoberyozovsky lime plant, constructed between 1958 and 1961. Prior to this, a lime plant No. 6 of the trust of non-metallic materials of the People's Commissariat (Ministry) of Construction Materials Industry of the BSSR had operated in Bereza (from 1957 under the Construction Materials Industry Administration of the BSSR Council of National Economy). From 1961 to 1965, the Novoberyozovsky lime plant was subordinate to the Construction Materials Industry Administration of the BSSR Council of National Economy; from 1965 to 1990, it was under the Ministry of Industrial Construction Materials of the BSSR. In 1990, the Novoberyozovsky lime plant was reorganized into the Berezovsky Silicate Products Combine. From 1991 to 1994, the combine was subordinate to the Ministry of Construction Materials Industry of the Republic of Belarus; in 1994, it was transferred to the Ministry of Architecture and Construction of the Republic of Belarus. In 2000, the combine was transformed into an open joint-stock company of the same name (according to other information, it was transformed into an open joint-stock company in 1990). In 2005, the combine produced construction lime, small wall blocks, and expanded polystyrene insulation boards. In 2007, the company was privatized by the Tripl Group of Yuri Chizh, a native of Beryozovsky District. After privatization, the enterprise supplied products for Chizh's construction business and for export, but remained loss-making. In 2016, Chizh began restructuring the Tripl Group, and among other measures, the sales departments were merged with the affiliated Quartzmelprom (SZAO Kvartsmelprom), which began operating jointly under the SLS Group brand. On 23 July 2019, the Economic Court of Brest Region began considering the bankruptcy case of OAO Berezovsky KSI. In February 2020, Ukraine—one of the major sales markets for the enterprise's products—introduced anti-dumping duties on aerated concrete blocks of OAO Berezovsky KSI. On 7 April 2020, the Economic Court of Brest Region declared the enterprise bankrupt, appointing sanation. In May 2020, the parent company Tripl filed a bankruptcy petition with the court. By a shareholders' meeting on 30 April 2026, a decision was made to liquidate the company (the file was published on 7 May 2026). Additionally, on 23 March 2012, the Council of the European Union included Yuri Chizh and his companies, including Berezovsky KSI, in the EU 'Black List'. On 6 October 2015, the Court of the European Union annulled the EU Council's decision to impose sanctions against Chizh and his enterprises.
