History

Beer Factory Brewery was founded in 2016 by brewer Josef Krýsl and restaurateur Viktor Starý. The brewery and restaurant opened to the public on 24 November 2016 in a building in central Plzeň owned by Josef Kohn, stepbrother of mathematician Miloš Forman. The brewhouse was consecrated on 18 November 2016 by Bishop Tomáš Holub. At opening, the brewery had a brewing capacity of 10 hl per batch and aimed to produce up to 2,000 hl annually, making it the second-largest brewery in Plzeň after Pilsner Urquell. The interior, designed by ProjectStudio8, accommodated 160 guests indoors and 40 on the garden terrace, with 28 tap lines. The brewery initially produced beers such as Světlý ležák, IPA, Amber ALE, Black ALE, Pšeničné pivo, La Trapp, and Nevada Summer. By 2020, after four years on the market, the brewery was forced to leave its original location in central Plzeň due to difficult circumstances. Production was temporarily relocated to Pivovar Letiny near Plzeň, which uses the same technology developed by Beer Factory. The beer is also available at Joe's Garage Brewery in Červený Hrádek, a company that has built over 70 minibreweries in the Czech Republic and abroad. The brewery continues to produce all its beer varieties and remains active.
