Overview
BE-TRANSSE Holdings (ビィー・トランセホールディングス株式会社) is a Japanese transport holding company headquartered in the Makuhari New City area of Mihama-ku, Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture. It serves as the umbrella organization for the BE-TRANSSE Group, a regional bus and taxi operator group whose roots trace back to a taxi company founded in 1965. The group's corporate identity, BE-TRANSSE, was adopted in December 2009; the name combines "BE" (from "BE AMBITIOUS") and "TRANSSE," a coined variation of "TRANSPORTATION." The group's slogan is "Japan's most greeting-focused bus and taxi group company" (日本一“あいさつ”を大切にするバスとタクシーのグループ会社). The holding company itself was established on June 1, 2008, initially under the name Ryokaku Jigyo Co., Ltd. (旅客事業株式会社), as a coordinating headquarters for three group companies: Nishimisaki Kanko, Danchi Kotsu (later renamed Asuka Kotsu), and Peace Kotsu. In April 2012, the organization transitioned to a holding company structure and changed its name to BE-TRANSSE Holdings. Its representative director is Taira Yoshida (吉田平). The company is privately held, with stated capital of 20 million yen. The group's operating companies provide route buses, chartered buses, taxi services, and airport shuttle services, primarily in Chiba Prefecture and the eastern Tokyo metropolitan area. Key services have included the late-night express bus "My Town Liner," the airport bus "THE Access Narita" (now part of Airport Bus Tokyo-Narita), and community-oriented jumbo taxi services. The group has also been recognized for health management practices, receiving the "Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization" certification in 2017. As of 2026, following the absorption of Nishimisaki Kanko into Asuka Kotsu, the group consists of two operating companies.
History
The BE-TRANSSE Group's history begins in 1965 (Showa 40), when Hironari Yoshida founded Nishimisaki Kanko with five taxi vehicles. Yoshida had previously run a general store in Chikura Town at the southern tip of the Boso Peninsula, dealing in supplies for deep-sea fishing, but low margins led him to enter the taxi business. In 1974 (Showa 49), responding to requests from the Saiwai-cho housing complex residents' association, Danchi Kotsu (later Asuka Kotsu) was established and began operating 10-passenger jumbo taxis between the housing complex and JR Nishi-Chiba Station. In 1975 (Showa 50), Peace Kotsu was founded at the request of the Nishi-Konakadai housing complex association, running jumbo taxis to Shin-Kemigawa Station. In 1979, Peace Kotsu began service between JR Tsuga Station and Wakamatsudai housing complex. In 1984, Peace Kotsu became the first company in Japan to hire female drivers. In 1986, it became the first non-railway-affiliated company in the postwar Kanto region to obtain a general route bus license. In 1990, based on its own proposal, it launched Japan's first late-night express bus connecting Tokyo Station and Wakamatsudai. In 1992, Nishimisaki Kanko began school bus service for Josai International University. In 1994, it started contracted operation management. In 1995, Danchi Kotsu adopted the nickname "ASKA" for its chartered buses and began hotel and corporate shuttle services. In 1996, it started a "shopping bus" at the Inage Kaigan large shopping center (Jusco Marinepia). In 1997, Peace Kotsu began service between Kaihin-Makuhari and Makuhari Baytown under Japan's first proposal-based competition. In 1999, Danchi Kotsu obtained a general route bus license and reorganized services to serve JR Inage and Chiba stations. In 2002, the group introduced low-floor barrier-free vehicles ahead of the rest of the country. In 2006, Nishimisaki Kanko launched the "Night Shuttle" jumbo taxi service between Soga Station and Chiharadai. In 2007, Danchi Kotsu began the late-night express bus "My Town Liner" between Chiba and Oami. In 2008, the three companies were incorporated (from limited liability companies), and Danchi Kotsu was renamed Asuka Kotsu. On June 1, 2008, Ryokaku Jigyo Co., Ltd. was established as the coordinating headquarters for the three group companies, with Taira Yoshida as representative director. On December 1, 2009, the group adopted BE-TRANSSE as its corporate identity, and Peace Kotsu launched daytime high-speed route bus service for the "My Town Liner." On April 12, 2010, Nishimisaki Kanko began the airport shared taxi "My Town Shuttle" between Chiba City and Narita Airport. In 2012, the group holding company BE-TRANSSE Holdings was established, taking over operations from Ryokaku Jigyo; Peace Kotsu launched "THE Access Narita" between Tokyo/Ginza Station and Narita Airport. In 2015, the group celebrated its 50th anniversary, and Asuka Kotsu received the highest three-star rating under the chartered bus operator safety certification system. In 2017, BE-TRANSSE Holdings was certified as a "Health and Productivity Management Outstanding Organization 2017" by METI and the Japan Health Council. On February 1, 2020, THE Access Narita and Tokyo Shuttle (Keisei Group) integrated to form "Airport Bus Tokyo-Narita." In 2026, Nishimisaki Kanko was absorbed into Asuka Kotsu, reducing the group to two operating companies.
