Overview

BBA – Akademie der Immobilienwirtschaft e.V., Berlin is a non-profit professional development institution for the German housing and real estate industry, headquartered at Hauptstraße 78/79 in Berlin's Schöneberg district, in the Roxy-Palast building. It was founded in 1993 by the BBU Verband Berlin-Brandenburgischer Wohnungsunternehmen e.V. and the BFW Landesverband Freier Immobilien- und Wohnungsunternehmen Berlin/Brandenburg e.V. As a registered association, it is supported by more than 320 members, predominantly companies from the real estate sector. The academy's educational offering spans a private vocational school for real estate clerks (Immobilienkaufleute), which is state-recognized and funded by the State of Berlin as an Ersatzschule, as well as part-time courses, seminars, conferences, in-house training, individual coaching, management discussions, educational trips and organizational development measures. It also offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programs in cooperation with universities, including a B.A. in Immobilienmanagement, a B.A. in Real Estate (distance learning) and an MBA in Business Administration – Real Estate Management. BBA describes itself as one of the leading educational service providers in the industry and has been training specialists and managers for over 30 years. Its part-time courses prepare participants for both expert and management careers, with instruction delivered by industry experts in small groups and supported by a digital learning platform. As a non-profit association, BBA does not pursue profit maximization; surpluses are reinvested into the development of new educational products, with members having a say in their design. In 2009, BBA reached the top 10 as a finalist in the "Deutschland Kundenchampions" competition. The academy maintains close ties to the industry through its founding associations and member companies, and regularly organizes events such as the Genossenschaftskongress (cooperative congress) and the Lerninsel educational incentive for young professionals. Its portfolio includes career courses such as Immobilienkaufmann/-frau (BBA/IHK), Geprüfte/-r Immobilienfachwirt/-in (BBA/IHK) and Immobilien-Ökonom/-in (GdW), as well as certificate courses in accounting, property management, WEG specialization, real estate brokerage, technical object management, controlling and social management.
