Overview

Bayern-Park presents itself as the perfect family excursion destination, with fast roller coasters, splashy water attractions, lovingly designed themed rides and plenty of fun for young and old. Its official history page states that the park can celebrate 35 years of Bayern-Park in 2026, and that its origins reach back to 1978, when Elfriede and Alfons Hochholzer had the idea of opening a wildlife park on the parental farm. After approval procedures, construction of the animal enclosures and the first restaurant began in 1981, and on 02 August 1985 the Vilstaler Wildpark was ceremonially opened. In August 1991 the wildlife park was converted into a leisure park under the name Bayern-Park - Das Freizeitparadies für die ganze Familie, with early attractions including a park tour, summer toboggan run, Schweinchenbahn, rail train and electric cars. The park's mascot is Franz-Xaver, described as an official mascot of Bayern-Park.

History

According to the official history page, Bayern-Park can celebrate 35 years of Bayern-Park in 2026, but its origins reach much further back. The history goes back to 1978, when Elfriede and Alfons Hochholzer had the idea of opening a wildlife park on the parental farm. After approval procedures, construction of the animal enclosures and the first restaurant began in 1981. On 02 August 1985 the idea became reality and the Vilstaler Wildpark was ceremonially opened. In the following years numerous visitors admired red deer, fallow deer, birds of prey and numerous other mostly native wild animals, and the restaurant served good bourgeois Bavarian home cooking. After five years of Vilstaler Wildpark, the signs of the times were recognized and the construction of the first rides laid the foundation for today's leisure park. In August 1991 the conversion from wildlife park to leisure park took place under the name Bayern-Park - Das Freizeitparadies für die ganze Familie. The first attractions included a park tour, summer toboggan run, Schweinchenbahn, rail train and electric cars, some of which are still preserved in the park today.
