Barr Estate Winery

Barr Estate Winery is a small family owned and operated vineyard, boutique winery and tasting room located at 6950 Union Road on the east side of Paso Robles in the Geneseo District. The estate grows Aglianico, Albarino, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Mourvedre, Petit Verdot, Petite Sirah, Primitivo and Tannat on a 57-acre vineyard and crafts them into single vineyard estate wines. The tasting room is open Friday to Sunday from 11 to 4, and the winery also produces estate grown cold pressed 100% extra virgin olive oil. It can ship to California, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Oregon and Texas.

Barr Estate Winery was founded by Tealy and Greg Barr, native New Orleanians who grew up in a culture of great jazz and good food. They lived in Europe during the 1970s and 1980s, which enhanced their wine experience and appreciation of European wines, and returned to California in the 1990s. After working for an international company for thirty years, they decided to start a second career dedicated to growing grapes and making great wines at affordable prices. After searching for a vineyard, they settled on the Central Coast of California in Paso Robles in 2007. Their son Geoff moved to the vineyard in early 2008 to be part of the family vineyard and winery. Their daughter Mathilde lives and works in the Bay area and is actively involved with winery events, promotions and social media, and helps with sales in Northern California. In 2008, 200 Tuscan olive trees were planted, and the first olive oil bottling of their extra virgin cold pressed olive oil was in 2013. Greg is the winemaker, and winemaker consultant Signe Zoller has been their teacher.
