Overview
Baljer & Zembrod is a German machinery manufacturer (Maschinenbau) that describes itself as an international leader in advanced cranes and other machinery for handling, processing, sorting and transporting roundwood, scrap and waste. It presents itself as a leading international supplier of innovative woodworking machinery for the log yard in sawmills, as well as electric-powered handling equipment for the timber and recycling industries, and as a specialist in stationary heavy-duty cranes and track-mounted sorting carriages. The company traces its origins to an agricultural machine workshop founded in 1952 in Ebenweiler, Baden-Württemberg, and later established branch offices in France, the Czech Republic and Poland, plus distribution in Russia.
History
Baljer & Zembrod traces its history to 1952, when an agricultural machine workshop was founded in the village of Ebenweiler in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. In 1961 the company moved to Weingarten into a larger production hall, and in 1985 it constructed new premises in Altshausen, also in Baden-Württemberg, and founded the branch office BZH in France. In 1986 it delivered its first roundwood sorting and transporting carriage (RSTW) to France, followed in 1989 by delivery of the first butt end reducer. A branch office was founded in the Czech Republic in 1991, and in 1995 the company received an innovation award from the state of Baden-Württemberg for development in the field of mechanical engineering. A branch office was founded in Poland in 1996, and in 1998 the company designed a hole rotor debarking machine, with the ZE 905 described as a flagship model in the debarker range. Distribution in Russia was founded in 2000, and in 2002 the company began cooperation with distribution partner Kiesel in the scrap and recycling sector. In 2005 it designed a butt end reducer with frontal clamping, and in 2006 it designed the loading crane LGX and introduced the new crane generation OBX IV. In 2007 it reported revolutionary progress in the butt end reducer range (patented), stating that the WRP-STAR remains the fastest butt end reducer worldwide; it also designed its first combined debarking and reducing machine and received an Innovation Award of the rural district Ravensburg and Volksbank Oberschwaben, Germany. In 2009 it designed special machines for smaller saw mills — the butt end reducer WRT-SSB and the rotor debarker ZE 903 — and designed the loading crane OBX V-24 for several shift operation. In 2010 it developed the new heavy duty crane PSX and launched the new generation OBX V with higher service life and reliability. In 2011 it designed a quill debarker with scraping knives for short logs.
