Overview

Baechler is a Swiss company specializing in textile care, including dry cleaning, household linen care, and professional textile services. It has been operating since 1834 and is present throughout French-speaking Switzerland.

History

The history of Baechler Teinturiers dates back to 1834, when young Rodolphe Baechler left Bern for Geneva. With savings and an inheritance, he acquired one of the washing rafts on the Rhône and created one of the first textile cleaning companies. He collected laundry at home with a handcart, washed it, and delivered it. Later, a workshop was opened in the St.-Gervais district to expand services to wringing, drying, and ironing. Over the years, services expanded to dyeing, degreasing, and starching. In 1875, Rodolphe Baechler and his son inaugurated their first arcade at quai du Seujet. Two other depots opened at Rive and in the Grand-Rue. In 1911, Félix and Emile Baechler, grandsons of Rodolphe, built a new factory on rue de Lausanne, where the house 'Baechler Frères' developed for nearly 50 years. Other points of sale were opened in Geneva and even as far as Lausanne. In 1964, the Maison Baechler built a new building on route de Jussy, integrating the factory, workshop, a shop, and administrative offices.
