Overview
Badushütte is a mountain hut owned and operated by the SAC-Sektion Manegg, a section of the Swiss Alpine Club (Schweizer Alpen-Club, SAC). It sits on Alp Tuma at an elevation of 2,502 metres in the Gotthard Group of the Swiss Alps, within the canton of Graubünden. The hut lies on the eastern spur of the Fil Tuma (2,608 m), a ridge that drops southeast from the ridge between Rossbodenstock (2,837 m) and Pazolastock (2,739 m), above the Martschallücke (2,684 m). It is positioned north of the Badus (2,928 m), after which it is named. The hut offers 20 sleeping places and does not have a publicly accessible winter room. Its location provides views to the south over a wide basin between Fil Tuma, Rossbodenstock, Parlet (2,766 m), Piz Tuma (2,784 m) and the Badus. Just below the hut to the southeast lies the Tomasee (2,344 m), considered the source of the Rhine. The hut is a starting point for numerous hiking, alpine, climbing and biking tours in summer and ski tours in winter. Access routes include Oberalppass via Pazolastock (2.5 hours, experienced mountain hiker), Oberalppass via Val Maighels (2 hours, mountain hiker), Tschamut (3 hours, mountain hiker) and Andermatt (6.5 hours, experienced mountain hiker). Neighbouring huts include Maighelshütte (about 1.5 hours via Tomasee), Cadlimohütte (about 5 hours), Capanna Cadagno (about 7.5 hours) and Vermigelhütte (about 4 hours). The hut was inaugurated in 1967, and in 2017 it celebrated its 50th anniversary. It was built and expanded through countless hours of voluntary work by section members, including the construction of a water pipeline. The hut is run on a simple standard. The official website notes that the hut is closed during the winter season and that the 2026 hut season has ended; it has no publicly accessible winter room. The section thanks its guests and looks forward to welcoming them again in summer 2027.
