B2M Entertainment

B2M Entertainment was a South Korean record label and artist-management company founded in 2010 by Gil Jong-hwa. The business was initially established under the name Gil Entertainment and adopted the B2M name after Lee Hyori joined the company. Its identity was closely associated with Gil's earlier career at DSP Media, where he had worked in artist management and had been involved with acts including Sechs Kies, Fin.K.L, SS501, and KARA. This background gave B2M a strong management-oriented profile, particularly in Korean pop music and the representation of established performers. Lee Hyori became one of the label's most prominent early signings in 2010. Gil had worked with Fin.K.L since the group's debut and had previously served as one of its co-managers, making the move an important relationship-based development for the newly formed company. During the same year, SS501 members Heo Young-saeng and Kim Kyu-jong also joined B2M. These additions positioned the company as a home for both veteran performers and artists with established fan bases rather than solely as a new-talent label. B2M expanded its own artist-development activities in January 2012 by forming the five-member girl group Spica. The group became the company's principal group project and released music under B2M during the following years. Later in 2012, the company signed Eric Nam after he placed in the top five of the second season of the Korean television competition Star Audition: Birth of a Great Star. He made his official debut on January 23, 2013, adding a newer solo act to a roster that also included prominent established artists. The label continued to broaden its activities in 2014. In September, it organized Spica.S, a four-member special unit comprising Park Si-hyun, Park Narae, Yang Jiwon, and Kim Bohyung, while Spica member Kim Boa was planned for solo activities. Nicole Jung, formerly of KARA, joined B2M eight months after leaving that group and made her solo debut with the company on November 19, 2014. These moves reflected B2M's emphasis on artist-specific projects, subgroup promotion, and solo careers alongside conventional group releases. In July 2015, B2M entered a strategic alliance with MMO Entertainment, a subsidiary of CJ E&M Music. The relationship later became a major transition point in the company's history. In November 2016, Eric Nam and Spica, together with co-managed artists associated with CJ E&M, including SG Wannabe and Davichi, transferred to MMO Entertainment. Nicole Jung remained with B2M at that stage. In April 2017, former B2M trainees appeared as MMO Entertainment trainees on the second season of Produce 101, further indicating that talent-development activities had shifted toward the CJ E&M-linked company. B2M Entertainment officially shut down on June 30, 2017. Its operating history therefore spans a relatively short period, but it included management of recognized Korean pop performers, formation of Spica, development of Eric Nam, and a strategic transition into the CJ E&M/ MMO Entertainment structure. After the closure, founder Gil Jong-hwa went on to work as an executive producer at Stone Music Entertainment.

B2M Entertainment shut down on June 30, 2017. Its former founder, Gil Jong-hwa, later worked as an executive producer at Stone Music Entertainment. The label's legacy rests principally on its management of Lee Hyori, Heo Young-saeng, Kim Kyu-jong, Spica, Eric Nam, and Nicole Jung, as well as its role in moving artists and trainees into the broader CJ E&M-linked entertainment system.
