Overview

AVIX, Inc. (アビックス株式会社) is a Japanese company specializing in digital signage, LED display systems and related content and operation services. Founded in 1989, the company traces its origins to research into a "time slit" pass-through display device intended to turn dark railway tunnels into moving image spaces. Over more than three decades it has grown into a total-solution provider covering product procurement and sales, system development and operational support, positioning itself as a dedicated digital signage specialist. The company's product portfolio spans indoor and outdoor LED vision displays, high-transparency LED screens such as trA Vision and Glass Vision, cube-shaped CUBE VISION displays, all-in-one LED meeting boards (HUB ONE), touch signage and the DiSi CLOUD content distribution system. It also offers AI signage solutions that combine consulting, construction and operation for retail and facility use. AVIX is headquartered in Naka-ku, Yokohama, Kanagawa, with a Tokyo sales headquarters in Shimbashi and branches or sales depots in Osaka, Nagoya, Fukuoka, Okayama, Sapporo and Tohoku. It is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market and holds a specific construction business license from the Kanagawa Prefectural Governor. Its group includes Digital Promotion Co., Ltd. Notable installations include the movable high-definition LED vision at SHIBUYA TSUTAYA, the high-transparency LED vision at COLUMBIA TOKYO FLAGSHIP, a 4K LED vision at Fukuoka International Airport, and an outdoor large LED vision at the Rohto Tokyo Building. The company continues to develop new LED products and AI-driven signage, holding product exhibitions and expanding its airport advertising and retail solutions.

History

AVIX, Inc. began in 1988 when research started on a "time slit" (通過型表示装置), a pass-through display device, with a basic patent application filed. The concept was to turn dark railway tunnels into moving image spaces. A round slit (rotating display) was also developed. In 1989, AVIX, Inc. was established, and a time slit was experimentally installed in a Nagoya Transportation Bureau tunnel as an off-site facility of the Nagoya Design Exposition. The technology then spread to Kobe, the Haneda Monorail and JR Narita. In 1990, AVIX Sales Co., Ltd. was established to strengthen the sales structure. In 1991, the company received a New Business Award (encouragement prize) and installed a time slit communication model in the Kobe Kitashin Expressway Kitashin Tunnel. In 1993, it received technology certification from the Research and Development Enterprise Promotion Center, a Kanagawa Prefecture advanced technology incentive subsidy, and a Sanwa Venture Promotion Fund research and development grant. Time slits were installed on the JR East Narita Airport Line and at JR Hokkaido New Chitose Airport. In 1994, the "J-League Supporters Light" went on sale, and a time slit was installed on the Tokyo Monorail. In 1995, AVIX developed "Pole Vision," a moving image display device, and received certification as a specified new business from the Ministry of International Trade and Industry. This year marked a new direction for LED display expansion: replacing neon signs in pachinko halls and similar venues. Pole Vision offered lower electricity costs and no maintenance compared with neon, and more than 100 stores adopted it. In 1996, the company won the Venture of the Year '95 "High-Tech Division" award sponsored by Nikkei Venture. In 1997, it developed "Large Pole Vision" and "Cool Vision" (blue Pole Vision). In 1998, it developed the full-color display "Cyber Vision." In 1999, AVIX again received technology certification and subsidies, and installed the first Cyber Vision at Shibuya QFRONT, creating the Q's EYE display. It also developed "A-Line" (LED illumination system) and won the Commissioner's Award at the 16th National Police Equipment Development and Improvement Contest for Pole Vision. In 2000, the first Cyber Vision (named "IT board") was installed at Nagoya Toyopet, beginning the digitalization of Toyota dealer signage and merging LED display technology with network content distribution. In 2001, the company developed a video distribution system using distributed object technology, installed the first indoor Cyber Vision at the first ranKing ranQueen Shibuya store, and installed the first "Banner Vision" (horizontal type) in a pachinko hall. In 2002, a full-color time slit was installed on the Sendai Municipal Subway. In 2003, a Cyber Vision-type display for the Tokaido Shinkansen (Tokyo–Osaka) platform departure signs and boarding guides was jointly developed with JR Central. In 2004, the company received the 14th New Business Award. In the years since, AVIX has continued to expand its digital signage business, developing high-transparency LED products such as trA Vision and Glass Vision, the DiSi CLOUD distribution system, HUB ONE all-in-one LED meeting boards, touch signage and AI signage solutions. The company is listed on the Tokyo Stock Exchange Standard Market and operates from its Yokohama headquarters with sales offices across Japan.
