Overview

Auvio Kids TV is a Belgian French-language children's television brand operated by RTBF (Radio Télévision Belge Francophone), the public service broadcaster of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation. It broadcasts during the day on the third RTBF network, La Trois, and is aimed at children aged roughly 4 to 10. The service is entirely advertising-free and combines animated series, educational programming and a daily children's news bulletin. The brand was launched on 26 September 2010 under the name OUFtivi, replacing the long-running youth programme Ici Bla-Bla that had aired on La Deux for more than 15 years. Unlike its predecessor, OUFtivi offered substantially more than two hours of daily programming, with a morning block that was not simply a repeat of the previous afternoon. It shared the La Trois channel, occupying about 34% of its airtime, in a model comparable to MTV and Nickelodeon sharing a channel in Belgium. On 28 August 2023, RTBF announced that the channel would be renamed Auvio Kids TV, aligning the youth brand with the wider Auvio streaming platform. On 29 January 2024, Auvio Kids TV and La Trois were split on digital platforms only, giving La Trois its own dedicated channel. On 25 August 2025, Auvio Kids TV adjusted its viewing hours, now starting at 15:30 (12:30 on Wednesdays) on weekdays outside weekends and school holidays, to allow La Trois to expand its airtime on the shared channel. Programming includes the daily children's news Les Niouzz, the educational show Viens je t'explique (originally launched during the COVID-19 pandemic as "Y'a pas école, on révise"), and a large roster of animated series such as PAW Patrol, Les Sisters, Miraculous, Super Wings and Grizzy et les Lemmings. Some content is produced by the Dreamwall studios in Marcinelle, a partnership between RTBF and Dupuis Audiovisuel. The brand also extends into podcasts under the Auvio Kids label.

History

Auvio Kids TV traces its origins to the launch of OUFtivi on Sunday 26 September 2010 at 6:55 a.m. on the third network of RTBF. It replaced Ici Bla-Bla, a youth programme that had aired for more than 15 years on La Deux. Unlike Ici Bla-Bla, which was limited to roughly two hours a day and whose morning slot was a repeat of the previous afternoon, OUFtivi offered a fuller schedule. It shared the La Trois channel, occupying about 34% of its airtime, a model similar to MTV and Nickelodeon sharing a channel in Belgium. This arrangement benefited La Trois, which without the youth offering would have struggled to fill its schedule without diluting its programming. The channel's brand awareness grew steadily, from 11.6% in 2010 to 38.5% in 2016. It remained entirely advertising-free and targeted children aged 4 to 10. Programming included the daily children's news Les Niouzz, educational content and a wide range of animated series, some produced by the Dreamwall studios in Marcinelle, a partnership between RTBF and Dupuis Audiovisuel. The morning block typically ended with the closing credits of Les Niouzz or C'est pas sorcier, and the evening ended with the end of Les Niouzz. On 28 August 2023, RTBF announced that the channel would be renamed Auvio Kids TV, moving from the OUFtivi name to align with the Auvio streaming brand. On 29 January 2024, Auvio Kids TV and La Trois were split on digital platforms only, allowing La Trois to regain its own dedicated channel. On 25 August 2025, Auvio Kids TV changed its viewing hours, now starting at 15:30 (12:30 on Wednesdays) throughout the week except weekends and school holidays, to allow La Trois to expand its airtime on the shared channel. Educational programming has been a hallmark. Viens je t'explique, aimed at children aged 6 to 12 for revising maths, French and general knowledge, was originally launched as "Y'a pas école, on révise" on 6 April 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially daily, it moved to a weekly rhythm from September 2020. The channel also produces podcasts under the Auvio Kids label, inviting children to explore the world.
