Overview

Autoservizi Salemi Srl is an Italian bus transport company based in Marsala. It operates regional lines in Sicily, national lines to major Italian cities, and airport connections. The company was founded in 1948 by Antonino Marino and has over 75 years of experience.

History

Autoservizi Salemi was founded in 1948 by Antonino Marino, a native of Salemi, who saw the need to restart after the Second World War. The company began operating with a single second-hand bus covering the route Salemi – Vita – Alcamo – Partinico – Palermo and vice versa. In 1949, the concession was extended to Marsala, and the company acquired a second bus and later a third. During the 1950s and 1960s, the company expanded connections to Petrosino and Mazara del Vallo, and the fleet was constantly increased with new Gran Turismo buses. In 1955, Antonino Marino was awarded a diploma with medal by the Chamber of Commerce of Trapani. In the early 1970s, the A29 motorway provided a significant boost to mobility, leading to further growth. The administrative headquarters was definitively transferred to Marsala in 1971. After Antonino Marino's death in 1985, his son Gaspare took over the company, bringing it to a national level.
