Overview
Atelier Svatopluk, o.p.s. Liteň is a Czech non-governmental non-profit organisation (obecně prospěšná společnost) founded on 12 April 2012. Its founders are Městys Liteň (the market town of Liteň) and Digitus Mise, o.p.s., a social services provider based in Hořovice. The company is registered at the Liteň Municipal Office building at Náměstí 71, while its main operations are located at Areál Pode Zděmi Liteň, Pod Zděmi 402. Jan Havelka has served as director since its founding. The organisation's name commemorates the stay of the famous Czech poet and writer Svatopluk Čech in Liteň and reflects its mission to present Liteň and its traditions. The impetus for founding the company was the need to find a use for and ensure the operation of the site of the former Secondary Vocational School (Střední odborné učiliště) in Liteň after the school was closed. The plan emerged as a local initiative of citizens of Liteň and the Beroun region in 2011, during negotiations between Městys Liteň and the Central Bohemian Regional Authority about the possibility of transferring the site to the market town free of charge. The company's public benefit services focus on three main themes: supporting the documentation and presentation of the Beroun, Hořovice and Karlštejn regions; supporting the creation of programmes and projects for using the former vocational school site for suitable public benefit services; and supporting the creation of qualified jobs for people with disabilities and their retraining programmes. Atelier Svatopluk carries out its mission through several activities. It documents Liteň and its own activities via a sheltered job position for a photographer/documentation worker. It cooperates with partners on events of supra-regional importance. It presents notable personalities connected with Liteň, such as Svatopluk Čech, Jarmila Novotná, Antonín Wiehl and Otomar Pravoslav Novák, as well as local monuments and points of interest including the chateau, Čechovna, the Daubek family tomb and Liteň railway station. It engages in publishing, promotes the Liteň Educational Trail for tourism and school education, and offers accommodation in the former dormitory for tourists. A significant project is the Naučná stezka Liteň (Liteň Educational Trail), created with the help of a team of local enthusiasts and supported by the Karlštejn Region under the Rural Development Programme with a grant of CZK 994,806; total costs were CZK 1,048,100.79. The company also manages and operates the Areál Pode Zděmi Liteň under contract with Městys Liteň, handling tenant recruitment, routine maintenance and planning of site use. It organises cultural and social events including Kováři v Litni (blacksmiths' meeting, since 2014), Liteňfest (music festival, since 2012) and Zimní běh Litní (winter run, since 2013).
History
Atelier Svatopluk, o.p.s. Liteň was founded on 12 April 2012 by Městys Liteň and Digitus Mise, o.p.s., Hořovice. The name commemorates the stay of the poet and writer Svatopluk Čech in Liteň and the company's mission to present Liteň and its traditions. The founders built on previous cooperation in social services within the Liteň area. The immediate impulse for founding the company was the need to address the use and operation of the site of the Secondary Vocational School in Liteň after the school was abolished. The plan originated as a local initiative of citizens of Liteň and the Beroun region in 2011, during negotiations between Městys Liteň and the Central Bohemian Regional Authority about the possibility of transferring the site to the market town free of charge. The statutory body of the company is the director, appointed at founding as Jan Havelka. The company has a three-member board of trustees: the first chairman was Karel Kliment, mayor of Liteň, and after his death the newly elected mayor Miroslav Horák became chairman. The company's activities are governed by the Act on Public Benefit Companies effective at the time of its formation. Its mission, public benefit services and supplementary activities are set out in the founding contract, and the methods and forms of fulfilling the mission are regulated by the statute approved by the board of trustees. The main themes of its public benefit services are: supporting the documentation and presentation of the Beroun, Hořovice and Karlštejn regions; supporting the creation of programmes and projects for using the former vocational school site for suitable public benefit services; and supporting the creation of qualified jobs for people with disabilities and their retraining programmes. In popularising Liteň and the regions, the company uses documentation carried out at a sheltered job position for a photographer/documentation worker, cooperation with partners on events of supra-regional importance, presentation of notable personalities connected with Liteň (Svatopluk Čech, Jarmila Novotná, Antonín Wiehl, Otomar Pravoslav Novák), presentation of monuments and points of interest (the chateau, Čechovna, the Daubek family tomb, Liteň railway station), publishing, promotion of the Naučná stezka Liteň for tourism and school education, and offering accommodation in the former dormitory for tourists. The Naučná stezka Liteň was prepared as a significant tool for publicity and presentation. A team of local enthusiasts helped collect and select documents for the individual stops. The panels were made and installed by Ing. Vladimír Glaser. The trail was supported by the Karlštejn Region under the Rural Development Programme with a grant of CZK 994,806; total costs were CZK 1,048,100.79. The trail increased Liteň's publicity and joined other educational trails in the Karlštejn region. Its publicity strategy includes creating physical contact points at cooperating organisations, systematic photo documentation and publishing on the internet (thematic galleries on Rajče, Zonerama, Wikimedia Commons, and from 2014 expanding Wikipedia content about Liteň, its personalities and trail stops), ongoing online information about the trail, and research into visitor feedback. Atelier Svatopluk also manages and operates the Areál Pode Zděmi Liteň under contract with Městys Liteň as owner, ensuring tenants for vacant non-residential spaces, routine maintenance of buildings and grounds, and planning and organising use of the site. It organises cultural and social programmes: Kováři v Litni (a two-day meeting of blacksmiths and other craftsmen working with iron, since 2014, in cooperation with Kovárna pro radost in Kytín), Liteňfest (a multi-genre music festival of folk and country music, since 2012), and Zimní běh Litní (a mixed running race, since 2013, organised by Středisko volného času Domeček Hořovice). These events are conceived as all-day or multi-day programmes suitable for families with children, creating content for the former school site and supporting partnerships among non-profit organisations in the region.
