History
Asuka Shinkumi Bank was established on August 30, 1966, as a regional credit union for the mutual aid of South Korean residents in Japan, originally named 'Shinkumi Miyagi Shogin' with its head office in Sendai, Miyagi Prefecture. In 1999, it took over the business of the former Hokkaido Shogin Credit Union and changed its name to 'Shinkumi Hokuto Shogin'. In 2002, it took over the business of the former Tokyo Shogin Credit Union and changed its name to 'Asuka Shinkumi Bank'. In 2002, it merged with Aomori Shogin, Akita Shogin, Iwate Shogin, and Fukushima Shogin. In 2004, it moved its head office from Sendai to Shinjuku, Tokyo. The bank has continued to expand and reorganize its branches over the years.
