History
Zamakona Yards is one of the most important ship repair and construction groups in Spain, with more than 40 years of experience in the sector, operating in the Cantabrian Sea and the Canary Islands. The group brings together more than 1,000 professionals. In 1972, Pedro Garaygordóbil, the founding President, created NAPESCA in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a ship repair workshop with 12 employees. In 1978, Ircesa was founded as a workshop for electrical repairs and installations. In 1980, Astilleros Zamakona, a shipyard in Bilbao, joined the group of companies.
