The Associazione Industriale e Commerciale dell'Arte della Lana was officially constituted on December 12, 1897. It was driven by the awareness of common interest in uniting forces for the formation of Prato among the important Italian and European industrial centers. In 1920, the Association purchased the historic Palazzo Vaj from the Vaj family to move its headquarters there, which had already hosted the ancient prestigious Società dei Misoduli since 1875.
