Overview
The Association des œnophiles et dégustateurs du Jura (AODJ), also known as the Association of Oenophiles and Tasters of Jura, is a French non-profit association (association loi de 1901) founded on 1 March 2004 and headquartered at 81 route du Revermont in Saint-Lothain, in the Jura wine region of France. It was founded and has been presided over since 2004 by Marie-Thérèse Grappe, a restaurateur, restaurant professor, and sommelier specializing in Jura wines. The association is dedicated to the promotion of the Jura vineyard and oenology, and to wine education for consumers and enthusiasts. The AODJ's activities include teaching wine tasting, developing sensory and gustatory skills, building vocabulary specific to viticulture and tasting, deepening knowledge of wines, wine regions, and regional specialties, training consumers to recognize quality products, mastering food and wine pairings and wine service rules, organizing meetings with winemakers and oenological evenings, participating in juries, competitions, and exams, and supporting prestigious gastronomic events in France. It also aims to create a convivial atmosphere and relationships among professionals and passionate amateurs. In 2014, the association created the annual Concours Mondial du Savagnin, held at the agricultural and viticultural high school of Montmorot / Lons-le-Saunier, the capital of Jura. The competition promotes the Savagnin grape variety and selects and rewards the best wines in the world made from this grape. The AODJ organized the competition from 2014 to 2019. The association maintains an official website at juradegustation.com, which includes sections on the association, its activities, a 2025 calendar, the Concours Mondial du Savagnin, Jura recipes, pharmacopoeia, and a photo album. The website was kindly created by Arnaud Clerget. The association is based in Saint-Lothain, Jura, and can be contacted at 03 84 37 09 22 or oeno.grappe@wanadoo.fr.
