History

The Association de la presse diplomatique française was founded in 1929. It groups journalists tasked with following questions of international politics, and counts around one hundred members from the main French media and several media outlets of the European Union. Its vocation is to facilitate journalists' access to any source of information useful in the exercise of their profession, particularly in the diplomatic world. It organizes meetings (lunches, breakfasts, dinners) and briefings with French and foreign personalities, and seeks to fluidify exchanges with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the diplomatic cell of the Presidency of the Republic, foreign embassies in Paris, and geopolitical think tanks. Concerned with ethical rules, it defends the principles of independence, freedom and pluralism of information. Each year it awards a prize of 2,000 euros to a French journalist whose work has illuminated the geopolitical understanding of the world; the prize rewards any form and format of work (reportage, analysis, investigation or a set of reports on the same subject) and all types of media (print, audiovisual, digital).
