Overview
The Associació Catalana de Comptabilitat i Direcció (ACCID) is a Catalan professional association dedicated to the promotion and development of accounting, management and business administration, as well as the generation and dissemination of knowledge among professionals, academics and other agents linked to these fields. It operates from Catalonia, Spain, and its activities are conducted primarily in Catalan and Spanish. The association is known for publishing practical accounting and financial reference works. Among its flagship publications is the "Manual de Tancament Comptable i Fiscal per a les PIMES" (Manual of Accounting and Tax Closing for SMEs), produced with the support of the magazine SuperContable and made available free of charge in digital format in both Catalan and Spanish. Another recurring publication is the "Manual Ràtios Sectorials", which presents annual accounts and ratios for a large number of sectors, prepared with the collaboration of PIMEC, the UPF Barcelona School of Management and the Registre d'Experts Comptables (CGE and ICJCE). ACCID also runs award programmes to encourage research and best practice. These include the Premi al millor Cas Pràctic ACCID, aimed at unpublished practical cases in accounting or business management, and the Premi al millor Treball Final de Màster en català sobre temes comptables, financers i de gestió, organised jointly with the UPF-Barcelona School of Management. The association is governed by a Junta de Govern (Board of Directors) elected for multi-year mandates; the board ratified for the 2026–2030 mandate is led by President Xavier Subirats Alcoverro. As a membership-based professional body, ACCID is a private, non-listed organisation. Its work centres on publications, awards, conferences and collaboration with universities and professional bodies, positioning it as a reference point for accounting and management knowledge in the Catalan-speaking professional community.
History
The Associació Catalana de Comptabilitat i Direcció (ACCID) is a Catalan professional association that has built its identity around the promotion of accounting, management and business administration, and around the dissemination of knowledge among professionals, academics and related agents. Its work is carried out mainly in Catalonia and in the Catalan and Spanish languages. Over the years ACCID has developed a publishing programme that has become one of its most visible activities. The association produces the "Manual de Tancament Comptable i Fiscal per a les PIMES", a free digital manual explaining the accounting and tax valuation rules that an SME must apply to correctly close its financial year, including the limits for defining applicable accounting regulations, criteria for drawing up annual accounts, regulatory changes and relevant accounting queries. The manual has been edited with the support of the magazine SuperContable and has involved authors such as Francesc Gómez, president of ACCID's Agrupació de Professorat de Comptabilitat i Control (APC), Xavier Osés, secretary of the APC, and Manuel Rejón, economist, auditor and consultant. It is published exclusively in digital form in Catalan and Spanish and is free of charge. Another recurring publication is the "Manual Ràtios Sectorials". The 2024 edition contains the annual accounts (balance sheets and income statements) of 178 sectors and 25 ratios for each sector, prepared using accounting information from Spanish companies for 2024, 2023 and 2022. It is published in Catalan and Spanish in digital PDF format, with the collaboration of PIMEC, the UPF Barcelona School of Management and the Registre d'Experts Comptables (CGE and ICJCE). ACCID also promotes research and best practice through awards. The Premi al millor Cas Pràctic ACCID, now in its XXIII edition, recognises unpublished practical cases, preferably real, related to accounting or business management, with separate categories for degree and master's level cases. Works may be submitted in Catalan, Spanish, English, French or Portuguese, although a Catalan translation is required for eligibility if the original language is not Catalan. Winners receive a diploma, free ACCID membership for the first three places, publication of a summary in the ACCID newsletter and electronic publication of the winning works. Separately, the Premi al millor Treball Final de Màster en català sobre temes comptables, financers i de gestió is organised jointly with the UPF-Barcelona School of Management to promote and give visibility to master's theses written in Catalan on accounting, financial and management topics. Governance is exercised through a Junta de Govern elected by the Ordinary Assembly. On 9 September 2026 the Assembly ratified a new board for the 2026–2030 mandate, continuing ACCID's commitment to the promotion and development of accounting, management and business administration and to the generation and dissemination of knowledge. The board is led by President Xavier Subirats Alcoverro, with three vice-presidents, a secretary, a treasurer, a group of vocals and a council of consellers. Through this combination of publications, awards, governance and collaboration with universities and professional bodies, ACCID has established itself as a reference organisation for accounting and management in the Catalan professional community.
